Collaborative Pianist
Brieley selectively takes on projects with vocalists and instrumentalists (classical/art music) for professional recitals, recordings, auditions, competitions and tertiary performances.
Brieley has been working collaboratively for over 30 years. Her doctoral studies (completed 2016 on scholarship at Griffith University) focused on her collaborative work, her dissertation entitled The Chamber Music Pianist: An exploration of the skills required by pianists working in small ensembles. In 2018, Brieley submitted an opinion piece to Limelight Magazine entitled The Power Behind the Throne where she expresses her viewpoint that the concert pianists' musical part and role in collaborative work is not designed to be subservient.
Brieley has been a part of many collaborative recording projects, including for the following albums:
Mahler: Symphony No.2 Resurrection arr. for 2 pianos, 8 hands (Melba, 2014)
Flashpoint: Masterpieces of Messiaen and Hindemith (2013)
I read the old dream slowly : an Australian chamber music & art collection (2012)
Brieley is a member of the Accompanists' Guild of NSW.
