Cutting & Molnár

Both established soloists, acclaimed collaborative musicians, and experienced educators, Brieley Cutting (piano) and Judit Molnár (soprano) have now been working and laughing together for over seven years. Formed initially in Brisbane, their musical partnership began after Judit arrived from Hungary in 2012 with a Distinguished Talent Visa, and Brieley had returned from studies in London and was directing DeClassified Music, an acclaimed and award-winning concert series. Since then, Brieley and Judit have concertized as the time-honoured duo of pianist and vocalist, and have also worked with Artico Ensemble, Strauss in da Haus, and Fragments Ensemble, performing in concert halls, university venues, and community spaces alike. They combine their love of operatic and operetta arias and leider with chamber music collaborations with other musicians, and delight in taking on the challenge of virtuosic repertoire, showcasing Australian premieres, and exploring new cutting-edge visual techniques to enhance their audience’s musical experience. An additional focus for Brieley and Judit is showcasing music from the most influential Hungarian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries - the music of Bartók, Ligeti, Kodály, and Kurtág. Currently, they are working towards the release of a new album in 2021 of works by György Kurtág for voice and piano, working with violinist Graeme Jennings.
