Piano Teacher
Dr Brieley Cutting has over 20 years experience as a piano teacher and is now based in Sydney.
Brieley moved to Sydney in 2020, accepting the role of Lecturer in Classical Piano at the Australian Institute of Music and continuing in this role during the Sydney Covid Lockdowns. Leaving this role in 2024, Brieley now teaches from her Studio in Forest Lodge, combining this with her work as a concert pianist, director of DeClassified Music events, and as collaborative pianist at the Sydney Conservatorium.

Brieley has assisted many beginner pianists with creation of a strong foundation, and her more advanced students have graduated with bachelor and masters degrees, attained AMEB Diplomas, been prizewinners in piano competitions and eisteddfods, and auditioned successfully for acceptance into performance focused tertiary degrees. Brieley has also assisted professional pianists and piano teachers to deepen their knowledge and skills regarding technical issues, interpretation, advanced repertoire and collaborative performance. ​​​

2025 student successes include the following:

prize winners in the Ryde and St George Eisteddfods in Sydney, including a Joint First Prize in the Sub-Junior Championship at Ryde Eisteddfod (10 years & under)

numerous Highly Commended performances in the Ryde, St George and Sydney Eisteddfods

two students being selected to take part in the 'Little Lev' Australian National Piano Competition for Children in Brisbane (6/7 years, 8-10 years), one advancing to Round 2
-
a Second Placing in the Preliminary Round of the Aegio International Piano Competition, with Honourable Mention in the Final (7/8 years)
-
a Third Placing in the NSW State Final of the Oz Schools Instrumental Championship with Wildcard invitation to perform in the National Final in Melbourne (School Grades 5/6)

a 'Gold Award' performance in the Sydney live round of the Singapore International Music Competition (10-12 years)​

AMusA Diploma awarded from the Australian Music Examinations Board for a student aged 10 years
